Diversificação industrial baseada na acumulação de domínio tecnológico: uma análise empírica na Iguaçu

Resumo

A pesquisa investiga como a acumulação de domínio tecnológico possibilitou que a Cia. Iguaçu de Café Solúvel explorasse alternativas de diversificação industrial. A literatura de inovação apresenta um desenvolvimento considerável acerca dos impactos para as organizações. Contudo, ainda encontra-se uma lacuna quando se trata de como a acumulação de domínio tecnológico gera conhecimento e abre janelas de oportunidades para diversificação industrial. Não obstante, alguns estudos consideram que indústrias baseadas na agroindústria não são capazes de gerar externalidades positivas e desenvolvimento tecnológico e industrial. Com base em uma estratégia de estudo de caso em profundidade na agroindústria do café solúvel com cobertura de longo prazo foi encontrado evidências que o processo de diversificação que a Iguaçu realizou foi resultado da acumulação de domínio tecnológico. Desta forma, a pesquisa conclui que agroindústrias podem sim exercer o papel de geradoras de inovação, tecnologia e diversificação industrial.
