Abstract

Objective: The objective of this study is to identify the factors that influence the intention of Brazilian Navy (BN) personnel to share knowledge through social media.

Methodology/Methodological Procedures: The research involves a survey with the participation of 125 respondents associated with the Brazilian Navy's Netuno Program. Data were collected through an online questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) with the lavaan package in the R software.

Originality/Relevance: This study addresses a theoretical gap related to the limited national academic production on the intersection between knowledge management and social media, especially in the context of the Armed Forces. The research is relevant as it explores a still underexamined topic in public institutions, involving the use of social media as strategic tools for knowledge management (KM).

Main Results: The results indicate that perceived usefulness, ease of use, and reciprocity are the main factors influencing the intention of BN personnel to share knowledge through social media.

Theoretical/Methodological Contributions: The study contributes to the literature by validating a theoretical model that integrates variables such as perceived usefulness, ease of use, and reciprocity in the context of knowledge sharing on social media. Furthermore, the research reinforces the applicability of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) in complex organizational contexts, such as the military.

Social/Management Contributions: These findings can be applied to other public or military organizations seeking to enhance their knowledge management practices through digital technologies.
