Atuação do Project Champion em projetos: seu papel, fatores de empoderamento e poder de influência

Authors

Abstract

Objective: To identify the role that the project champion plays in a project context;

Methodology: A qualitative and exploratory methodological approach was used through a systematic literature review with a sample of 44 articles;

Originality/Relevance: The contributions of the project champion are generally considered critical for the success of projects;

Main results: The results demonstrate, in addition to the role played by project champions, the empowerment factors and the power of influence of these individuals. Among the main roles of the project champion are ensuring stakeholder commitment and support, facilitating project acceptance, motivating team members, and securing the necessary resources. Leadership skills and familiarity with the organization are the two main empowerment factors, while establishing good personal relationships and using influence tactics represent the power of influence;

Theoretical contributions: This study contributes to expanding the literature in the field of project management by identifying the main aspects that represent the role of the project champion in the context of projects;

Contributions to management: Practically, the research can provide support to project managers and executives in the identification, allocation, and development of these professionals.
