Organizational readiness for the digital transformation: a case study research

Abstract

The aim of this research work is to formulate a framework that explains resources, capabilities and management choices necessary to respond to the new environment. The research methodology is based on literature review and an in-depth case study based on three enterprises. The framework describes (a) the impact of digital innovations on external forces; (b) adequate strategies arising from a value chain analysis; (c) resources and capabilities of critical importance. The article contributes to the state of management literature by describing how small and medium size companies respond to the digital transformation process.

Marisa A Sanchez, Universidad Nacional del Sur

Marisa Analía Sánchez received a Doctorate degree in Computer Science from Universidad Nacional del Sur in Bahía Blanca, Argentina.  She is currently Associate Professor of graduate and post-graduate courses at Department of Management Sciences at Universidad Nacional del Sur.  Her research interests include the role, value and governance of digitization in organizations.

Juana I Zuntini, Universidad Nacional del Sur

Juana I. Zuntini received a Master degree in Business Administration from Universidad Nacional del Sur, Argentina. Owner of Zuntini Soluciones Integrales (technology company). She is currently a Teaching Assistant at Department of Management Sciences at Universidad Nacional del Sur. Her research interests include Information Technology Management.
